Proverbs Ch 8
Proverbs 8:17 I have them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
Proverbs 8:34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
Pro 8:35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
Those who are familiar with Scripture will know there are many such verses encouraging us to seek the Lord while He may be found and call upon Him while He is near. The reason this invitation is extended to us is simply because when we find Him, we find life. We enter into new realms of living never experienced before.
True satisfaction and true life can only be found in Him.
Finding a seat or finding a treasure.
I had to catch a bus very early one morning to go to the city. I paid my fare and found a seat. Two stops later a person got on, moved down the passage and stood beside where I was seated. I could see thev were not happy. After they moved along and found another seat I asked the person I was sitting next to what was the problem. Their response was, "They always sit in that seat.” I had made someone very unhappy simply because that person thought they had a claim on that seat. The point of it all is – it didn’t really matter thev sat, just so long as they were on the bus. The Kingdom of God is a bit like that. It mavbe different to what you thought it might be, but don't miss the bus.
So many churchgoers miss the whole point of going to church because they are easily distracted. Someone parks where they usually park or sit where they usually sit, and they’re upset the whole time they are there. They have become more concerned about finding a seat than engaging in the search for the treasure abounding in God's House'
The Value of Redemption
In the world in which we Iive we always think of the price of things. We look at a car, and we admire its features, but the price stands in the way of having it as our own. We look at a new home, and we would love to live in it, but again, it is beyond our reach if the price is too high. We go into a jewellery store and see the exhibited diamonds and we would like an expensive one to show our love to a special person, but again, the price stands in the way.
"The amazing thing about God is that He places the greatest fulfillment of our need at no price at all. However, we are likely to not appreciate the greatness of the gift, just because it is free” (source unknown)
Chippie the Parakeet.
Chippie the parakeet never saw it coming. One second he was peacefully perched in his cage. The next he was sucked in, washed up, and blown over. The problem began when Clippie's owner decided to clean Clippie's cage with a vacuum cleaner. She removed the attachment from the end of the hose and stuck it in the cage. The phone rang, and she turned to pick it up. She barely had time to say "hello" when "scup!" Chippie got sucked in.
The bird owner gasped, put down the phone, turned off the vacuum, opened the bag. There was Chippie - still alive but stunned. Since the bird was covered with dust and soot, she grabbed him and raced to the kitchen and put him under the tap. Then, realizing that Chippie was soaked and shivering, she did what any compassionate owner would do; she reached for the hair dryer Poor Chippie never knew what hit him.
A few days after the trauma a neighbor enquired about how Chippie was recovering. "Well" she replied, "Chippie doesn't sing much anymore, he just sits and stares"'
It's not hard to see why.
Sucked in, washed up, and blown over that's enough to steal the song from the stoutest heart
Don't allow anyone to steal your song
