Proverbs Ch 6:20-23
"My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: bind them continually upon thine heart and tie them about thy neck. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life."
Once again we are warned of the many dangers confronting us as we take our place in the world around us. Yet through it all we have the assurance of His presence with us, on a continual basis, in the person of the Holy Spirit. He is always with us to glorify the Son of God. Always with us to lift up Jesus. Always with us to make the Word of God come alive and quicken us to its possibilities.
We are reminded that we must be continually on guard in every area off life. To distinguish between material things and spiritual things.
Jesus said in John 6:63. “The words that I speak to you are Spirit and they are life”
The word of God is always sweet to the taste of faith.
While we feed on the Word, faith will be fed because "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word." We can just as confidently face our fears, foes, obstacles with the Word of God, just as Jesus did, and just as confidently, expect to win.
The unfailing remedy for a grumbling heart is service.
Idle hands are still dangerous weapons.
We must be careful not to generalize or apply in a negative way some of the verses written here. It is important to know that some people who are called sluggards are in fact rebellious at heart. They want it all their own way. Sowing and reaping. Planting seed [investing in the gospel), doing random acts of kindness, has little meaning for them. We can lose a lot by not paying particular attention to the seasons. The same people who scoff at the rules are the ones that end up in trouble. Don't hurt yourself by refusing to fit into His plan for your life. It’s more than a church programme. It’s larger than your interests. When it's all boiled down it's about how you and I are going to respond to the great love He offers to us today.
