Proverbs Ch 10:17
Proverbs 10:17 “He who keeps instruction is in the way of life.”
This is one of 25 references to instruction found in the book of Proverbs. Everything we learn is of little value unless it is accompanied by the right responses or action.
Proverbs also tells us that instruction is the proper fruit of knowledge.
I like to say it like this. Wisdom is like a blueprint. It lays out very clearly how to proceed. It tells you how, when, where, what even if, at times, you don't know why. Sometimes you don't need to know why. I don't know about the composition of my mobile phone. All I know is if I follow the instructions, it will work.
Everything in life is like that. Whenever we make a purchase it comes with instructions. Some on the best way to prepare food; others have safety instructions such as how long you can expect food to stay fresh etc. And other on how to install and set the purchase up for maximized
efficiency and performance.
The right action is the proper fruit of knowledge.
If something doesn't work it is usually because one or more instructions haven't been followed. You may have left out an ingredient or substituted one thing for another. Or it could be something as simple as not turning the power on, not pushing the right button, forgetting to recharge the batteries or perhaps putting the batteries in the wrong way. I am sure we can all relate to those things.
Seeds come with instructions. Even the highest quality seeds won't grow to their fullest potential without following the instructions on when to sow what season is the best time. How much water do they need? One thing about seeds is they will not grow in a packet – they have to be sown. Many times I have had to check to see if I have followed the instructions.
The secret to a happy and full life is no secret at all. It's found in God.
Life's been described as a journey designed by God to help us grow and He has given us His word and His Spirit as navigational guides. Like those modern gadget they have in cars these days. You may not have been that way before but the directions are clear. All you have to do is follow the instructions and you will arrive at your destination.
Other words used for instruction are discipline, chastening chastisement, check, correction, or rebuke.
We are instructed in the Bible how some things are worth finding and others best left behind. That’s why we need to follow the blueprint.
Follow the instructions that came with the packet of life He created.
