Proverbs Ch17

Heart Smart

Whenever I go to the supermarket I receive this instruction; "make sure it's got a tick on the box”. Apparently if it’s got a red tick the product it meets with the approval of the heart foundation. What we eat is important. But what I allow to eat at me is more important. The truth of it is what I want more than anything else is the Father's tick of approval on my life.
Proverbs15:13 “A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance”.
Proverbs17:22 “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine but a broken spirit dries the bones”.
It is not the medicine but it is as good as. The margin in my Bible says it makes medicine even better. The effect our words have on our minds and our mind has over the body is well known scientific fact. Happy people heal faster.
Just a cold can get into your bones and you never seem to be warm, so can envy, strife and every other unregenerate attitude get into your souls and ultimately destroy you both morally and spiritually. Those attitudes are a consuming disease that once in the bones affect the marrow which in turn damage the blood cells.
No wonder God wants us to be sound in every area of our lives. The most constant cry of the human heart is to be happy. Jesus said "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”Sounds to me that thinking happy will ultimately make you happy. Remember Jesus said it first not some Eastern mystic! You cannot think good and speak evil at the same time. It's impossible. Whatever you speak at any given time reflects the condition of your heart. You cannot think good and speak evil at the same time anymore than it can be light and dark at the same time and, you cannot worship and worry at the same time.
Life for many is like the Chinese meal called "sweet and sour" You take a bite and you don't know what you're getting. It could be sweet, or it could be sour but it won't be both.
Physical and emotional health are real issues in today's world. People spend millions of dollars buying magazines that promote healthy living. But for all that, they are not healthier. Stress still eats away at them. Our bodies stop functioning the way they were made to because we have not been able to deal with the stress and the burdens of responsibility. Stress is the way of living for so many today. We are so busy planting roses we never take time to smell them. You will begin to become less stressful when you realize the world is one big rat race, and if you win, then all you become is the biggest rat. What we have discovered is not just a healthier lifestyle. Not some thing, but someone.

His name is Jesus.
When we found Him, our search for reality ended and the journey began. Searching for fulfillment and happiness can lead us down many different paths. So many spend their whole life searching for true happiness without ever finding it.
We have all travelled down some of those paths, chasing one illusion or another. The three most common beliefs that attract and entice us is the belief that If I had possessions, power and popularity, everything will be alright. Sometimes what we need most of all is none of those three
things because they can never provide true happiness yet they remain strong enticements.
The Bible promises two of those things and many more as well.
Two of the greatest skills we can ever learn to make God's medicine even more effective, is to learn how to cast and learn how to roll.
God’s description is simply 'roll your burden upon Him, and He will sustain you." To cast all your cares upon him because He care for you.'
He tells us not to do what we are all guilty of so often and that is being anxious. He tells us to be anxious for nothing. He doesn't say bury your head in the sand and ignore it. Rather we are reminded that our heavenly Father already knows about it.
When you go to a doctor, he or she will often begin to poke, prod, and press various places, all the while asking, "Does this hurt? How about this?”
lf you cry out in pain, one of two things has happened. Either the doctor has pushed too hard, without the right sensitivity. Or more likely, there's something wrong, and the doctor will say, “We’d better do some more tests. lt's not supposed to hurt there!"
Throughout the gospels miracles occurred whenever those who had a need allowed Jesus to touch them where it was tender. They allowed Him to touch them, wherever it hurt.
